i doubt an explanation is needed, but in case it is. this is madison dressed as abe lincoln. please note how serious she was for the photo shoot. in character we call that. the next pics are from the day we climbed the giant stone turtles and stuck our fingers in their nostrils while making pretty faces. mature? why yes.

Professor Reading

Hi to all
First the good news.....I am now an adjunct professor at the University of Findlay. Now the bad news......my first course is International Business taught ON LINE !
Problem.....I will be using "Blackboard" and "Elluminate" programs as facilitators. Of course I have no clue about either... :-(
The class is summer term commencing June 4th so I have some time.....oh by the way did I say I need to get a new computer equipped with "Word" and "Office".
I am going to order a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop so I can be portable....I will need either wireless or mobile broadband although the latter will not work in Leland so I guess it isn't an option.
Any and all suggestions will be most welcome.

I'm back!!!

I'll spare you the "I've been busy blah, blah, blah". Anyway, Madison is in St. Louis, all by herself, visiting with Grammie, Sarah, and Steph. We are dog watching for our friends this week, so Morgan every thought and action is devoted to Lucky. That leaves some spare time for Stacy and I to actually do some random activites, one of which is blogging!

If you get a chance, watch the highlights of the Masters on Thursday, you just may see me giving Tiger a tip or two. My first venture to Augusta, pretty excited!

So, how's the weather where you are?

Last Sunday, Caryn and I took a hike on Cougar Mountain, A beautiful, open, swath of land recently acquired by the Sonoma Land Trust.

For those of you that have visited, Cougar Mountain sits at the intersection of the highway that runs along the top of the Bay and the road that heads north to Sonoma (behind the race track)

The wild flowers were beautiful (a coat of many colors...), and we had great vistas to the Bay.

I hope you all are enjoying Emily's missives from the Far East as much as we.

C'est si Bon!

Caryn and I had a wonderful trip last month. After visiting the Eiffle Tower and The Arc de Triomphe, we walked the Rue de Montmartre. Later, we walked the Grand Canal and dinned at the Piazza de San Marco while listening to accordion music.

How wonderful. How romantic. How Las Vegas...

Yep. It's all there, in all it's incredible tackiness. Caryn was there for a convention and I decided to join her for the following weekend. Las Vegas is the pits, but... there are two parks on the out skirts that were our focus, and they were magnificent.

Saturday we drove about 1 1/2 hours north to the Valley of Fire State Park, Nevada's oldest park. We spent the day driving and walking through the some of the most beautiful high desert rock formations I've seen. Bright red sandstone, some covered with petroglyphs 1000's of years old.

Sunday, we drove about an hour west to the Red Rock Canyon National Recreation Center. More spectacular sandstone rock formations, snow covered canyon walls, and waterfalls from recent rains and snow melt.

As wonderful as these two parks are, the dramatic, and immediate contrast between what nature has created for our pleasure, and what man has created for someone's pleasure is almost depressing.

We flew home sunday evening, so it was a quick jaunt, but exhlarating all the same.
