Day 5
July 21 - Saturday
Frittered away the morning reading the paper and debating what to do today and tomorrow. We agreed on a walking/driving tour of Forest Park. We and the dogs, Odin and Coda, walked a ring from near the tennis courts, around and up to the Art Museum and the statue of Saint Louis, known to his countrymen as Louis IX, the only canonized king of France - past the zoo, past the Muny and the Boathouse and back to the car. We were out almost an hour and estimated we walked about three miles. Very nice.
Next Sarah took us to Ciceros on The Loop for lunch outdoors on the sidewalk cafe. Scrumptious meal and outstanding people watching. Next a walk around part of the Loop where Annie got her last Harry Potter. A sad thought for her having started the series in the third grade. However we ended up at Coldstone Creamery and everything became right with the world!
Then home to pick up a lantern from Target that was broken out of the box and an air mattress, also from Target, that leaked during the night spoiling Annie's first night ever in a tent. (RIP Punk). Off to Target for the exchange and to purchase some other minor supplies.
Annie and I agreed that if Sarah weren't cooking we'd like to try out the ethnic cuisine of St. Louis so Sarah took us to an Indian restaurant in the Central West End. The waiter told us to order and eat quickly because they were ready to close! Then we proceded to wait forever to be waited on and served. The food, varied and flavorful was a little more spicy than Annie was used to but she loved it and pronounced her first Indian repast a great success.

Entry to Art Museum, camera on base of statue. Note shadow of the good king's sword impaling Odin's butt.

I am sure that a trip to the top of the arch is a must for this trip. I am also guessing that you were not at the top of the arch when the power went out for over an hour. I am also sure Sarah has planned for you some fried rav's and Ted Drew's.
