Day 19
Saturday – August 4
Broke camp and headed north for Bodie, a mining town maintained in a state of “arrested decay.” Took a leisurely self-guided tour. We could look into windows
and the occasional door of houses, stores and the schoolhouse. Everything, including the dust, left just as it was 100 years ago or so. Very cool.
Into Nevada, north on 95 to I-80 then east to 93 and north to Twin Falls, Idaho. Annie read “Bleak House” through the thoroughly dull surroundings
Set up camp at Massacre Rocks State Park. At the suggestion of the campground hosts we drove 32 miles east to Pocatello for some Italian fast food. Stupid.
