Day 24
Thursday - August 9View Larger Map(I'm at once thrilled that Google finally added its embedded maps feature for blogs and websites but I obviously have not completely figured something out. This and the last map were supposed to start so the viewer could see the starting and ending destinations on the presented map, like Day 22. Then you could drill on down to closeups of whatever you wanted. These maps are starting down in and you have to go back out to see the big picture. Whatever! Also just noticed if you click on "View Larger Map" you get a more accurate map of our route.)OK - OK!
Left the Badlands and headed east for the state capital, Pierre. Had a great lunch at a little cafe called Pier 247 - get it? Discovered they were a wi-fi place and also
learned of a local Laundromat. So I set up the laptop and started blogging while Annie read Dickens. After I dashed over to change the loads, Annie told me she had never been in a Laundromat! I sent her back to retrieve the clothes but, of course, the cafe closed while she was gone so she returned to find me sitting on a bench by the side of the road. Even though I tried to look forlorn, she couldn't help but laugh.
Off we went towards Watertown where we found the Sandy Shores State Park. Made camp just by the lake. A very friendly ranger told us of a local restaurant that she takes her parents to which we found and very much enjoyed.Pier ------ Pierre.
