well i never...
So Bill suggests that there's no way that I could be doing as well as Steph with my January detox, soooo, I thought I'd write.
Things have been going wonderfully.
Steph and I have been to the gym often and are on track to be there at least 4 days a week if not more. We've been running/doing some form of cardio for about 30 mins then lifting weights. All is well there, although damn sore.
As for the eating/drinking. Giving up alcohol seemed a bit too easy, so I decided to that my January detox would include the following: no soda, more water, no sweets, no snacks and consistent workouts.
I have craved soda a lot but have gone without it each of the last 10 days. I've been drinking hella water and feel pretty good about that. As for the sweets, giving them up has been a lot easier than I thought it would be. I miss the ice cream (my number one sweet) a lot. At the end of a rough night at work I could easily eat a full pint of Ben and Jerry's (new york super fudge chunk or coffee heath bar if you're interested). we don't keep sweets around the house, so that's easy. there is a lot of crap around work so it's more of a challenge there but i haven't even been tempted. so that's good.
as for the snacking. i'd say i'm at 80% of perfect on that one. there have been a few nights where i've come home after work and had some pretzels or mixed nuts. but i'm hoping to cut that out now that the pretzels are gone, as are the nuts. i don't snack at work, so that's no big deal.
overall don't feel much different. feel good about being able to give up the sweets, but down when i find myself eating pretzels or nuts. the working out addition hasn't been tough b/c i love our morning lifts and feel better all day when i've gone to the gym first. although to go with steph before she goes to work means getting up at 5:30 and that can be a challenge when i don't get home until 10:30 or 11 the night before.
so i guess that's about it. hope that you find yourself up and running with the detox bill, now that the cold has passed. how is caryn doing with it? would love an update from you both.
love,
sarah
